This dialog allows you to catalog fixed and removable media quickly and easily. Simply select from the list of already mounted volumes or start inserting a collection of removable disks. Click on ( Done ) when you have cataloged all the disk you want.
The scroll list shows all non-removable media that is currently mounted on the desktop. Simply select a volume and click ( Catalog ) - or simply double click on the selection.
You may double click on a volume to gain access to its folders. You may then select and Catalog a particular folder or folders if you do not want to catalog an entire volume. This might be appropriate for a network server.
You may also locate and catalog a single archive file, such as a StuffIt, CompactPro file, or a directory file created by Retrospect.
Hint: You can also catalog non-removable volumes from the desktop by holding down the Option key while unmounting a volume.
To catalog removable media, simply insert it into the drive. The disk will be immediately cataloged and ejected.

With this option on, the Catalog dialog is presented allowing you to change the name of the disk or set the disks “number”.
With this option off, the disk is simply cataloged. The progress dialog is left on the screen until the next disk is inserted or you click the mouse. This allows you to place the disks “number” on the disk after it is ejected.
